About Me
Coats Observatory is Scotland's oldest public observatory. Opened in 1883 Coats Observatory has been welcoming people with an interest in astronomy ever since. Housing two powerful telescopes allowing our visitors fantastic views of the wonders of the night sky. The observatory also has a state of the art digital planetarium which brings the night sky indoors on nights when the weather prevents use of the telescopes. Viewing nights are run every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm to 9pm from the end of October to the end of March. Admission is free and there is no need to book.
