We are excited to be conducting our BIG (Big Impact Giving) micro-crowdfunding campaign to raise $577 to provide five telescopes for an astronomy camp in Nigeria just for girls. Here is what Olayinka Fagbemiro , the Principal Scientific Officer at the National Space Resesarch and Development Agency in Nigeria says about this much needed project.

“This project aims to address first, the challenge of gender lopsidedness in the school enrolment focusing on the female children in order to bridge the gap that exists between male and female children enrolment and also to encourage and motivate girls to explore STEM education.

At the camps, the girls will learn mostly about Astronomy, astronauts and space missions and a little bit of mathematics. A major attraction would be star-gazing, which would also run through presentations and some hands-on activities. Our aim is to reach thousands of school girls and bring science into their lives as we carry out these Astronomy camps in the different states across Nigeria.

Only 5 days left to help us reach the finish line! Every dollar counts so please help bring STEM education to African girls NOW.
