GAM2013 News

ida_logoYou can pitch in and do your part to promote dark nighttime skies by celebrating International Dark Sky Week (IDSW) April 5–11, 2013. The week, a key component of Global Astronomy Month, provides an opportunity for astronomers to become ambassadors for the night sky, raising awareness about light pollution, encouraging efficient use of lighting, and celebrating the beauty and wonders of the sky at night.

Think local for International Dark Sky Week: Survey and evaluate the lighting at your own home, talk to your neighbors about their inefficient or intrusive lights, or hold a backyard star party or other outreach event to share your love for the cosmos. Check our article about IDSW for more ideas about how to participate.
